MTIAPI Takes Part In the MTIA International Committee
Through the invitation of Mr. Peter Preziosi, Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Transcription Industry Association (MTIA-USA), the Medical Transcription Industry Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MTIAPI), through its President, Myla Rose Reyes and Executive Director, Raymond Eruma, was invited to be a member of the MTIA International Committee.
The formation of MTIA International Committee is conceived to work on issues related to the globalization of the clinical documentation sector and the need to improve dissemination of regulatory information, standards of practice, and compliance initiatives related to ethical practice and sound business principles. Specifically, the MTIA International Committee will initially focus on the following thrusts:
1. Promoting and strengthening alliances with international clinical documentation organizations.
2. Promoting the development, ex-change, and widespread implementation of practice guidelines
and documentation standards to improve the quality of services delivered to healthcare enterprises.
3. Introducing a uniform curriculum for international trainingleading to an internationally recognized
credentialing program.
4. Exchange best practices and develop outreach efforts to promote the clinical documentation sector
on a global level particularly in developing countries.
The committee will be composed of representatives from various medical transcription companies and organizations. Aside from Ms. Reyes and Mr. Eruma, the committee is composed of Mr. Dave Woodrow of SPi as Co-Chair; Mr. Nick van Terheyden, MD of M-Modal as Co-Chair; Suresh Nair, President I-MTIA; Ray Dyer of Acusis; Cathy Clemons of Heartland-Spyrance; Coleen Gaudet of CanScribe; Rosemary Turner Waugh of Transcriptionz Limited and Susan Dooley of AHDI Education Representative.
On their first teleconference held last September 30, 2008 the Committee agreed to convene regularly via tele-conference and report to the MTIA Board of Directors all discussion on issues related to the globalization of the clinical documentation sector and the need to improve dissemination of regulatory information, standards of practice, and compliance initiatives related to ethical practice and sound business principles.
