1st Transcription Job Fair Draws Thousands of Applicants

The Medical Transcription Industry Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MTIAPI) successfully held its 1st Mega Transcription Job Fair last June 20-21, 2008 at the Quezon City Hall Grounds.
The two-day event was organized by MTIAPI through the cooperation of Quezon City local government office, Technical Education Skills Development Authority, Total Transcription Solutions, Inc., I-Learn Center and its media partner, Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The first ever job fair primarily focused on Transcription-related job opportunities and trainings anchored on the following objectives:
• Increase industry awareness and knowledge about skills requirement and employability potential in
medical transcription and other transcription based services.
• Solicit local government support in facilitating awareness to the grass root level.
• Foster Industry linkages between Medical Transcription Educational Organizations (MTEO) and Medical
Transcription Service Organizations (MTSO).
Around twenty companies, training Institutions and corporate partners took part in the event where various employment opportunities related to medical, voice, legal and general transcription were presented to prospective applicants. Among the companies which participated in the event include:

According to the Quezon City Public Employment Service Office (PESO), around 2,000 applicants attended the job fair to explore employment prospects in the transcription sector.
Transcription is one of the IT-enabled services being promoted as a promising career for Filipinos, allowing opportunity for decent earnings without having to leave the country. Philippines currently services to only more than 1% of its international market in the United States, and hopes to achieve a bigger share by building a wide base of sufficiently qualified workforce in the country.
